How To Get Rid Of A Car That Doesn’t Run?

If your car won’t start, doesn’t crank, or chirps when you try to drive it, chances are it’s not going where you think. It’s probably got a broken wheel or wheel bearing that needs to be replaced. Or maybe you bumped your car and the drivetrain has failed. Whatever the reason, unless your car has been specifically programmed to not start for you (and even then it’s probably best not to go through with it), fixing it is usually pretty simple. All you need to do is take off the broken portion of the wheel and re-install it properly—no special tools, no fancy techniques, just some WD-40 and a hammer. Pretty simple right? Well, for some people it isn’t really that simple. If yours isn’t one of those people, this article is for you!

How To Get Rid Of A Car That Doesn’t Run?

1. Find the broken part

You can’t fix a car that doesn’t run if you don’t know where it is. A broken wheel or wheel bearing will usually be somewhere on the drivetrain, so start there. If you can’t find it, try looking under the hood of your car next to the steering wheel. Underneath your engine is also a good place to look for a broken wheel or wheel bearing.

2. Remove the old parts

If you’re lucky, you might have a spare part sitting around that will work as a replacement for what’s broken—maybe an old hubcap from another car, or an old tire with no rim and some nails in it to hold it together. If not, then take off all of the parts in front of your car that is related to your problem and see if anything looks like it might work as a replacement part. If so, then use those as replacements for what’s broken so now your car should be fixed!

3. Fix it!

Once everything looks like it’s in good working order (and hopefully not damaged) then put everything back together and drive away happy!

The 5 Stages Of A Car That Won’t Start

1. The car is broken!

The only way to fix a car that doesn’t start is to have the parts that are broken replaced. If you can’t find any spares for your car, then it’s time to go and buy some. Or, if you have a spare part lying around, then use it as a replacement.

2. The wheels are off and the drivetrain is out!

Now that you know where the wheels are, remove them from your car and put them somewhere safe (a garage if possible) while you work on replacing the parts around them. Make sure all of the gears and cables are disconnected from their places too.

3. The old parts are out!

If anything needs replacing it’s probably now or never! Take out all of the old broken bits and put in all of the new ones in front of your car so that when you put everything back together, your car will start again!

4. The old wheels are back on!

Now that everything has been replaced or fixed properly in front of your car, put everything back together again so that when you turn on your ignition switch nothing happens—the lights don’t come on as they should so something isn’t working properly yet (you’ll know this because nothing will happen). It’s now time for step 5…

5. The new parts have been installed!!

Hopefully, now you’ve fixed your car and it works properly again. If not, then pop back to step one and start again!

The Problem With Push-Button Starts

1. The button is broken!

If you push the button and nothing happens then it’s probably broken. If you can’t find a spare button then go to a garage and ask for one. If they don’t have any, then it’s time to go on the internet and search for a replacement.

2. The car won’t start with the button pressed!

If you can’t get your car started with the button pressed then it’s probably broken so pop back to step 1 and start again!

3. The key is in place but the engine won’t turn over!

If you can’t get your car started with the key in place, then it’s probably broken so pop back to step 1 and start again!

4. The key isn’t in place but the engine will turn over!

If you can get your car started but cannot keep it running, then chances are that something isn’t working properly yet—you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens—the lights don’t come on as they should so something isn’t working properly yet (you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens).

5. The key is in place but the car won’t start!

If you can get your car started but it will not stay running, then chances are that something isn’t working properly yet—you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens—the lights don’t come on as they should so something isn’t working properly yet (you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens).

6. The car will not start!

If you can get your car started but it will not stay running, then chances are that something isn’t working properly yet—you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens—the lights don’t come on as they should so something isn’t working properly yet (you’ll know this because when you turn off your ignition switch nothing happens) and if they were working correctly then it should run just fine.

7. The battery is flat!

If the battery is flat then pop back to step 1 and start again. If the problem persists then go to a garage and ask for a new battery for the starter motor or alternator for starters or alternators. Some garages may charge a deposit if they think that the problem could be caused by the starter or alternator anyway. You may find that getting a new battery is more expensive than getting a new starter motor or alternator so take note of this while buying one! It’s always best to buy parts one at a time and see if getting them fixed will uncover the problem.

8. The battery is good but the engine won’t turn over!

9. The ECU is faulty!

If you get a fault code from your car’s computer in its wiring loom, then pop back to step 1 and start again. If the problem persists then bring the car to a garage and ask for a new ECU for starters or alternators. You may find that getting a new ECU is more expensive than getting a new starter motor or alternator so take note of this while buying one! Again, it’s always best to buy parts one at a time and see if fixing them will uncover the problem.

Conclusion

Once you’ve gotten your car back on the road, the most important thing you can do is to keep an eye on it. Make sure you’ve replaced all of the broken parts and that the wheel is properly aligned. If you’ve done all of that, and your car still won’t start, it’s probably going to take a special tool to get it going. But don’t worry, we’ve got the perfect tool for you!
