How to Get Rid of a Bat Outside?

Bats are eternally creepy and a little bit mysterious. Even though they’re cute, cuddly, and helpful as well, bats continue to be associated with things like darkness, nightmares, and the old witch who lives under the hill. And that means that most people don’t want them living in their homes! Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to get rid of bats if you find one in your home or discover that they have taken up residence. If you find yourself dealing with this problem, read on for some tips about how to get rid of bats outside.

How To Get Rid Of A Bat Outside?

1. Get rid of the food sources

The first thing you’ll want to do is get rid of any food sources. This will help prevent new bats from coming in. If you have a bat box, this is an excellent way to keep them out. However, if you don’t have a bat box, simply putting out some mothballs will keep them away as well. Just make sure that the area is sealed off so that they can’t get in!

2. Get rid of their roosting spots

Once you’ve gotten rid of the food sources, it’s time to take care of their roosting spots. Bat roosting spots are usually found in attics and garages, so it won’t be hard for you to find where they are hanging out. You need to eliminate these areas as well because bats can use a lot of space! You can either seal off these areas or put up some sort of netting so that they can’t enter the house again. It may be easier on your wallet if you just seal off the area completely and replace any holes in the roof or walls with siding or boards; however, sealing up an entire attic will cost quite a bit more than just replacing a few holes in your roof or walls!

3. Spray for insects such as mosquitoes and flies

Mosquitoes love bats and most other insects love bats as well! So, you need to get rid of the mosquitoes in your area before you can get rid of the bats. You can do this by putting out some mosquito-repellent spray in the areas where you think they might be hanging out. Do this every month or so to keep them away!

4. Use a bird deterrent

Bats may look cute and cuddly, but they’re really just not very nice creatures at all! If you have birds in your home and want to keep bats out, you may want to consider using one or more bird deterrents. These products work by emitting a high-pitched sound that scares away most other birds from flying into your home. They come in different types so feel free to check them out online before purchasing one for yourself!

How To Determine Where The Bats Are Living?

Look for Bats in Dark Places

Bats are nocturnal animals that prefer to sleep during the day. If you want to get rid of bats, you should look for them at night. Most bats live near water and will seek out dark places where they can rest. They like places that have a lot of foliage, so homeowners can inspect outside for tiny holes in the tree trunks or leaves where the bats are hiding.

Look for Bat Holes

Bats use these holes to get into and out of their caves. You can easily find these holes by looking at the trees or other foliage on your property. Once you find a hole, ensure that it’s big enough for a bat to enter as well as exit from. It’s also important that there aren’t any small openings around it so that they don’t fly right into it if they see something or hear something interesting (which is why it’s important to make sure that the hole is big enough). If there are small openings around the hole and you can see them with your eyes, then there may be more than one bat living in your home!

Inspect Your Attic and Roof Areas

These areas are perfect spots for bats to roost because they have lots of shade and plenty of exits from them (and a lot of places where they can hide). Look up at the attic area on your roof – if you see any tiny holes in the roof, those are likely the places where bats are entering and leaving.

Check Your Attic for Bat Holes

If you can see the holes above, then you can also look inside your attic to see if there are any tiny holes there as well. If you find any, then you can assume that bats have taken up residence in your attic area and will need to be removed! You will want to remove all of these holes so that they don’t try to get back inside later.

Use Noise To Scare Away The Bats

  1. Bats are nocturnal animals, which means they generally only come out at night. If you find a bat in your home during the day, it is still possible to get rid of them. You can use noise to scare them away, playing loud music or banging pots and pans. It’s important to note that bats don’t like loud noises and will usually move away from the source of the noise if they can.
  2. If you can’t play loud music or bang pots and pans for some reason, consider pulling all the curtains in your home closed at night so that the bats have no way of seeing inside. You could also secure any open windows with a screen so that the bats can see nothing but darkness outside your home at night.
  1. Use a broom with long bristles to sweep around any holes where bats may be living in your home or flying around outside your house at night. This is especially important if you find yourself dealing with a colony of bats living in an attic or on top of a roof! Make sure to sweep inside as well as outside, since you never know where a bat may be hiding!
  2. If you discover that there are multiple entrances into your home for flying creatures such as bats, take steps to block each one off completely by using sheet metal and caulk around any openings that may be present in order to prevent access from the outside world (i.e., through windows). You may also consider installing a solid wall in the area where you have bats so that they have no other way of entering your home.
  3. If you find that you are dealing with a colony of bats living in an attic or on top of a roof and they are causing damage to your home, then it may be possible to get rid of them by luring them away with some honey. Simply fill a bottle with a mixture of two parts water and one part honey and place it somewhere in your home where the bats are flying around at night. You may want to place this somewhere near the attic or on top of the roof so that the smell is strong enough for them to come to investigate. Try this and see if it works!
  4. If you’re dealing with multiple bat infestations inside your home, then consider using pepper spray instead of honey in order to get rid of them faster. This is especially effective if there are multiple colonies living in different areas throughout your house – it will help keep all those bats out at once! The only downside is that pepper spray can be quite strong, so be careful not to use it around small children or pets as they may become seriously ill after being exposed to this chemical substance!

Conclusion

Bats are beneficial to the environment. They eat tons of mosquitoes and other harmful insects, but one of the best ways to get rid of bats is by using a professional bat removal company to get rid of them and seal up your home. Bats are great for keeping the bug population down, but if you notice that you have bats inside your home, you’ll want to act quickly to get rid of them as they can be very destructive.
