How To End A Facetime Call

Did you know that you can end a FaceTime call? It might not seem obvious at first, but there are some subtle clues that reveal you can end your conversation. The camera lens will turn red, a timer will appear and the words “END CALL” will appear in yellow above the volume control buttons. If after all this time you still can’t figure out how to end a FaceTime call, read on for everything you need to know about ending a FaceTime call.

How To End A Facetime Call?

  • Press the End button on your iPhone.
  • Press the End button on your iPhone to end the call.
  • Press the Home button on your iPhone to end a call.
  • Press and hold down the Home and Sleep buttons for about five seconds until you see a red exclamation point appear in the top-left corner of your screen. This indicates that you are in an active FaceTime call, and you can press the Home button to end it at any time without ending your phone’s power completely first.
  • Tap End on your iPhone’s Lock screen (if you have enabled this feature).
  • Slide over to Control Center, press and hold down the Side switch until you see Airplane Mode appear in Control Center, then tap Airplane Mode (this will turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). Then tap End Call from Control Center again to end a FaceTime call on an Apple Watch or iPhone without disabling Airplane Mode first by sliding over to Control Center, tapping Airplane Mode, then tapping End Call.
  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until your iPhone vibrates and begins to ring.
  • Slide to answer the phone; then answer it.
  • On an iPhone, press the sleep/wake button again until you see a red exclamation point appear in the top-left corner of your screen; this indicates that you are in an active FaceTime call and you can end it at any time without ending your phone’s power completely first by pressing the Home button on your iPhone.
  • Tap End on your iPhone’s Lock screen (if you have enabled this feature).

Steps To End A Facetime Call?

  1. Tap on the FaceTime app icon on the Home screen.
  2. Tap on the “End” button after tapping on the FaceTime app icon.
  3. Press and hold on to the “End” button until you are asked to confirm that you want to end a FaceTime call.
  4. Tap “End”.
  5. Once the call has ended, you will be asked to confirm that you want to end the call.
  6. If you do not want to end the call, tap “Don’t end”.
  7. If you do want to end the call tap “End”.
  8. After ending a FaceTime call, the phone will unlock… and then ask for your passcode again.
  9. The phone will then ask if you want to end the call again. Tap “End”.
  10. After ending a FaceTime call, the phone will once again lock… and then ask for your passcode again.

What Happens When You End A Facetime Call?

  • When you end a FaceTime call, the person you’re calling will receive a notification that your call has ended. The person’s device will then display a message asking if they want to attend the call. If they choose to attend, the call will resume from where it left off. If they choose not to attend, they won’t see this message and the call will end immediately.
  • If you have someone on hold when you end your call, that person will be notified that their call is ending and asked if they want to continue holding or drop off their line of communication. If they choose to continue holding, their device will show them an indicator that they are still on hold and ask them if they would like to resume their conversation later or drop off their line of communication.
  • You can also end a FaceTime session by pressing the End Call button in the top right corner of your screen (iPhone) or the top left corner of your screen (iPad).
  • If you end a FaceTime call while on a call, the person you’re calling will receive a notification that your call has ended. The person’s device will then display a message asking if they want to attend the call. If they choose to attend, the call will resume from where it left off. If they choose not to attend, they won’t see this message and the call will end immediately.
  • If you have someone on hold when you end your call, that person will be notified that their call is ending and asked if they want to continue holding or drop off their line of communication.   • When you end a FaceTime session, the FaceTime app will save all your messages and videos for up to 30 days before it discards anything older than 30 days from its memory.
  • The FaceTime app will not delete messages or videos from iCloud until after 30 days have passed, so that way you can go back through old chats with friends or family.

If you want to end your call but want to stay connected to the other person, you can press the forward button on your Mac or iPhone. If you want to end your call but want to avoid leaving an impact on your call recipient, you can press the forward button twice. No matter how you end your call, be sure to click the “END CALL” button. This will make sure that the call is disconnected and sent to your call history.
